Fall 2018 Usability Testing - New Library Search Catalog in Production

Fall 2018 Usability Testing on Library Search

CGT 105 students learned about the history of the usability testing
collaboration with the Library.
They also tested new Library Search
Catalog in production and compared their findings with the results
from a
campus-wide online usability testing survey conducted in
Summer 2018.

In this round of testing of the New Primo User Interface, students'
feedback affirmed improvements in the new Library Search and
in the revised testing logistics.  Students' reflections also helped
Library UX Team identify additional areas for usability improvements
to this interface.

Reflections on Test Results Assignment

After you complete Usability Testing of Library Search Catalog, answer the following questions:

1. Testing Experience Reflections

  • Comment on your experience with the testing session, stressing the way it was designed and executed.
  • What would you do differently if you were to coordinate usability testing session and why?
  • What challenges would you anticipate?

2.  Compare the UX test results from Summer Library Search UX Testing Pilot with those from CGT 105  Fall 2018 testing.

Look at summary results and the comments on each of the three tasks of the Summer Pilot group first.  Then compare those results with the results from CGT 105 Fall 2018 results.  Answer the following:

  • Were you surprised by anything?
  • What themes stood out?
  • Consider the different backgrounds and skills of Clark students and their needs as you are evaluating the usability of Library search catalog.

    • Make your recommendations to improve usability of this interface for Clark users and
    • prioritize these issues as high, medium, or low priority.

3.  What were your two most helpful takeaways from the Library Search UX testing experience?
