Combahee River Collective Statement (1977)
"The Combahee River Collective was a black feminist lesbian organization that formed in the Boston area in 1974. Throughout the 1970s, the group met weekly at the Cambridge, Massachusetts, Women's Center, and also held a series of meetings and retreats and various locations through 1980. The collective is best known for its issuance of the Combahee River Collective Statement, which is considered a defining document in the development of black feminism and in the development of concepts of black feminist and lesbian identity."
